Spiderman 3 : The Game

Spider-Man 3 is a video game based on the Spider-Man 3 film. It was released May 4, 2007.

The scenario draws from the film, Spider-Man comics and the Marvel Universe. The game features ten (eight on Wii, PlayStation Portable and the PS2.) villains including the movie's primary villains Venom, New Goblin, and Sandman.

Spider-Man 3 allows players to experience the actions of heroic red-suited Spider-Man and, for the first time ever, his darker, more mysterious black-suited persona. Set in a larger, dynamic, free-roaming New York City, the game gives players the freedom to choose their own gameplay experience through multiple movie-based and original storylines, fully integrated city missions and performance rewards including improved speed, combat maneuvers and agility. In Spider-Man 3, players draw upon Spider-Man's completely revamped combat abilities as they protect the city and defeat nemeses using expanded aerial fighting, finishing moves and dynamic webbing during missions and epic boss battles.

--------------
Many gameplay elements have been added or revised for this title in the series-:

I)Manhattan in the game is far bigger than in Spider-Man 2. The game also features over 20 miles of sewers and subways. This is definite for the next-gen and current-gen games.
II)Spider-Man has a brand new combat system that was worked from the ground up and includes more aerial moves and web attacks. These moves are in all versions of the game. For the Wii, the motion sensors are used during combat: the remote is used as Spider-Man's fists and the nunchuck is used to dodge attacks.
III)Part of the game puts the player in control of the Black Suited Spider-Man where Spider-Man's combat system has more brutal moves and a "Rage" system that allows aggressive moves.
IV)The game features cineractives that are button sensitive. Game director Chris Archer explained that all the gameplay is playable, including what would be included as a cinematic.
V))The city's subway entrances are scattered across the city. Some are located by the bridges, which will then lead to the location of the other entrances once you explore the rail line. Jumping onto one of the trains is possible, but requires quick timing. It is an excellent way of getting through the subway system quickly, as well as spot other hidden entrances into the sewers.

Public Reaction-:

Like Spider-Man 3 the movie, the game has received "mixed or average" reviews according to Metacritic where it has a 67 average score. However, Game Rankings shows that the game has a 72% average score with over 38% of reviews giving the game a score of 80% or higher [2]. The reviews have largely criticized the similarities between Spider-Man 3 and its predecessor. The PS2, Wii and PSP version has suffered major criticism, mainly due to graphics issues and the length of the game, in which the story lasts only 3-5 hours.

The PC version has been criticised for its frame rate of 30 FPS and very high minimum system requirements. An e-mail to Activision asking about these gives the reply: "Since the PC version is based on the Xbox 360 version, it was capped at 30 frames per second. Our team tried hard to remove this limitation, but ultimately couldn't, since it compromised the overall stability of the game. Because our team wanted to be true as much as possible to the Xbox 360 version, the PC version consumes vast amounts of ressources [sic] and that's why the minimum system requirements are above average."

GamePro has given the game a 4.25 out of 5 for both the PS3 and Xbox360 versions of the game[6], and a 3.00 for the Wii version[7].

-----------------
I)The game features a fictional company "Ditko Chroming" named for Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko
II)One of the combos featured in the game is named Rofl Copter. This combo is named after the commonly used internet slang, ROFL.
III)If sucsessfuly dodge an attack Spider-Man might say "kinda' like taking the football away before you kick it, huh?" a reference to The Peanuts Gang.
IV)When Spider-Man says his name is hyphenated is an inside joke, joking about how most people usally spell his name without the hyphen.
V)Kraven asking Spider-Man what he'd like his tomb to stay is a refernce to the Spider-Man storyline Kraven's Last Hunt.

Miscellaneous

I)Video game magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly was slated to have a worldwide exclusive story on the game for its October 2006 issue, going so far as to promote the exclusive in the previous issue. The issue instead shipped with a Guitar Hero II lead story, and a note from the Editor-in-Chief Dan Hsu stating that readers should "blame [director] Sam Raimi" for the change in content. A similar story was instead featured in the April 2007 issue of Game Informer.
II)Despite Kirsten Dunst's absence from the voice-cast due to her busy schedule, the game has the highest amount of the movie cast reprising their roles for the game in the trilogy.
IV)Despite Harry Osborn being in the 2 previous games, this is the first time that James Franco has voiced the character.

Official Fact Sheet-:
I)Based on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Columbia Pictures’ upcoming feature film, Spider-Man 3 allows players to experience the actions of heroic red-suited Spider-Man and, for the first time ever, his darker, more mysterious black-suited persona. Set in a larger, dynamic, free-roaming New York City, the game gives players the freedom to choose their own gameplay experience through multiple movie-based and original storylines, fully integrated city missions and performance rewards including improved speed, combat maneuvers and agility. In Spider-Man 3, players draw upon Spider-Man’s completely revamped combat abilities as they protect the city and defeat nemeses using expanded aerial fighting, finishing moves and dynamic webbing during missions and epic boss battles.

II)Welcome to the dark side – For the first time ever, control the legendary black suit, which magnifies Spider-Man’s strength, agility and durability. Punish your enemies with explosive new attacks and incredible upgrades, including fearsome room-clearers. All this power comes with a price, though, as players will find the black suit harder and harder to control. Will you be strong enough to make a heroic choice before your quest for vengeance turns the city against you?

II)Let freedom ring – Go anywhere at any time in a larger, dynamic, free-roaming New York City and get involved in whatever you want, whenever you want. Players decide how to proceed through the game and set their own goals. Should Spider-Man follow a plot twist, switch to an alternate storyline, fight off crime waves that threaten the city or explore vast interior and underground locations? You decide.

III)The city is your playground – From towering skyscrapers to the vast new subterranean sewers and subways Spider-Man must patrol all of New York. Three criminal gangs and variety of Super Villains will be competing for your attention, taking hostages, stealing cars, harassing citizens, and creating havoc. Will you be able to save everyone?

IV)Don’t let the city go to the dogs – Three vicious gangs have laid claim to the boroughs of New York and must be taken down. As Spider-Man brings these criminals to justice, the crime rate will drop in that section of town and city life will return to normal; if he doesn’t, the streets will turn to chaos. These super thugs won’t go down without a fight though. Their advanced AI will surround Spider-Man, grapple him, call in reinforcements, and do everything they can to retake their territory.

V)Everybody was kung-fu fighting – Redesigned from the ground up, the all-new combat system empowers players to perform suit-specific attacks and combo chains to defeat their enemies and complete challenges and missions. New animations, combos, and finishers make punch, kick, and web attacks more effective than ever while executing ground and air maneuvers.
Super Villains galore – Experience multi-stage, dynamic boss battles against the headlining villains from the movie as well as a host of legendary comic book foes who all take advantage of their environments, their minions, and the large-scale destruction that their superpowers cause in trying to defeat Spider-Man.

VI)Go, go gadget – In addition to faster web-swinging, certain events and environments open up additional Spider-powers for you to control. Using Spider-Man’s web abilities, he can catch falling objects including people and debris, fix hazards like broken train rails, barricade doors, and even slingshot from the tops of buildings for increased speed and huge air.
Spider-Man is growing up – As players master Spider-Man’s powers through natural progression and completion of missions and challenges, Spider-Man gains ability enhancements including improved web moves, swing skills, and amazing melee combos.
